Government has now released KSh 24 billion to all public secondary and primary schools following the outcry by the teachers and subsequent ultimatums to shut down the learning programmes

Speaking on Thursday 8th, Education Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu has noted that the capitation, had been delayed because of government’s interventions on programming the systems

“Of the fund Sh15.6 billion will cater for the free day secondary education as well as Sh4.6 billion going for free primary education,” Machogu noted.

The CS disclosed that Sh3.8 billion are designated for Junior Secondary Schools [JSS].

This, comes, after the backdrop of teachers threatening to close down the schools or break for early midterm should the government would continue to postpone the disbursement of school capitation

Machogu, since March, has been telling school heads that government is going to release the money next week after every week, which had never been, becoming a choral verse, as they were now running out of patience

However, those who spoke to the media, had their identities and faces masked for the fear and security of their teaching career since government wouldn’t want to be exposed of their inconsistencies
